The 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend babies be fed only breastmilk for the first 6 months of life. | Beginning in the infant’s first month of life through 3 months, partially breastfed infants receive up to 364 reconstituted fluid ounces of iron-fortified infant formula. | Beginning at birth through 3 months of age, fully formula fed infants receive up to 806 reconstituted fluid ounces of iron-fortified infant formula. |
At 4-5 months of age, infants receive up to 442 reconstituted fluid ounces of iron-fortified infant formula. | At 4-5 months of age, infants receive up to 884 reconstituted fluid ounces of iron-fortified infant formula. | |
Around six months of age, solid foods can be introduced into the infant’s diet.
