What is Mental Health?

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)
SAMHSA provides one-stop access to information on mental health and mental health problems, from mental health basics (such as facts, myths, and early warning signs of problems) to a toolkit for community conversations about mental health, as well as information on how to get help, including a 24-7 National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (or online chat), a 24-7 Veterans Crisis Line (or online chat), and a SAMHSA Treatment Referral Helpline as well as a treatment locator to search by state or zip code. MentalHealth.gov is also available in Spanish.

Mental Disorders and Related Topics

National Institute of Health
The National Institute of Health provides an index of mental disorders (including anxiety, depression, substance use and mental health, and more) that covers an overview, signs and symptoms, risk factors, treatment and therapies, and steps to take beyond treatment. This site also includes a section on special populations, including women, children and adolescents.

Maternal Mental Health

Oregon Health Authority
The Oregon Health Authority website provides information on perinatal mood disorders common among women before, during, and/or after pregnancy, including prenatal or postpartum depression or anxiety. Information is geared towards those wanting to learn more about this topic as well as information geared specifically toward not only pregnant women and new mothers, but also dads, partners, family and friends.

The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline provides 24/7 free and confidential support via phone or text for people in distress. There is also a web chat  available 24/7.
