The WIC Nutrition Services Standards (NSS) describe quality nutrition services for State and local agencies regardless of the setting in which agencies provide services. They were developed through a joint effort between FNS and the National WIC Association.
The WIC NSS were created to assist State and local agencies in their continual efforts to improve the services they provide by focusing on core elements that are essential to providing high quality nutrition services. They also assist State and local agencies in setting expectations for WIC Program performance that are reasonable, achievable and measurable.
In addition to the Standards, State and local agencies may utilize the online self-assessment tool.
