In their Sudden Unexpected Infant Death (SUID) and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) section, the CDC provides information and data on this topic (including SUID rates by states and race/ethnicity) and highlights safe sleep recommendations, including those related preventable risk factors such as smoking during pregnancy or around the baby (How to Quit Smoking).
