Fluoride in water prevents cavities! Get it from the tap!

Smile! February is National Children's Dental Health Month (NCDHM) - a great opportunity to promote the benefits of good oral health, because developing good dental health habits at an early age, including scheduling regular dental visits, helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the community water fluoridation program this year, and emphasize its effectiveness, the American Dental Associate has chosen this year's campaign slogan to be "Fluoride in water prevents cavities! Get it from the tap!"  Visit the 2020 NCDHM Campaign website to download posters and activity sheets for kids (like a coloring sheet, maze and crossword, many of which are available in Spanish.

You can also download a free fact sheet that provides tips to help families ensure their children's oral health begins in infancy.  This resource is available in 11 different languages, and is among those featured on our collection page: Oral Health in Infants, Children and Pregnant Women.

The WIC Works Resource System features a number of other resources for WIC staff to learn about and educate WIC participants on oral health, such as:
