10 Ways that WIC and Head Start Can Collaborate

In an effort to support and encourage collaboration on a State and local level, USDA's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families (ACF) Head Start programs have developed a resource highlighting 10 ways these two programs can collaborate to enhance participant-centered services. This resource outlines specific ways and suggested strategies on how WIC and Head Start programs can work together.

WIC State and local agencies are encouraged to reference the '10 Ways' document and featured collaborations as examples of on-going and successful approaches to collaborating with the Head Start Program.

You can find additional resources to strengthen local, state and regional coordination, such as webinars that provide insights from Connecticut’s and Mississippi’s collaborations between their respective WIC and Head Start programs

A webinar to learn about how WIC, Head Start, Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) and the Child Care and Development Fund (CCDF) Program will work together to improve program coordination and service delivery is also available.
