Make eating healthy foods fun for kids by putting them on a stick! This classic combination is not only fun to prepare and eat, but nutritious as well, providing vitamins C and B12, fiber, calcium, and protein.
Mix and match the veggies and protein for extra variety and to personalize to your taste - You can even add fruit! Strawberries, bell peppers, or cucumbers give an added extra crunch and flavor (and go well with balsamic vinegar).
Get kids involved in preparing these easy-to-make snacks. If serving to younger children, you can make them even more kid-friendly by using sticks with a semi-pointed end (which has no sharp point), or cut off the pointed end of a wooden stick before serving.

- Wash hands and then rinse the herbs and/or vegetables before getting started.
- One at a time, place the ingredients on a skewer, alternating cheese, tomato and basil or spinach. Place as much or as little on each skewer as you like until you make 6.
Serve with light balsamic vinaigrette for dipping, or just enjoy them on their own!
*Make these ahead and then serve with a meal or offer as a snack between meals.
